CCD Handbook

All Public School children of St. Mary’s parish in grades Pre-K to 8th grade should be attending CCD Classes. Students attending Parochial School and preparing for a Sacrament must also register so they can receive proper instruction that will enable them to receive their Sacraments. Classes are held during the school year according to the requirements of the Scranton Diocese. A copy of every child’s baptismal certificate is necessary for all new registrations.

Pre K & Kindergarten -
Meets every Sunday Morning from 10:45 AM to 12:00 PM.
Classes are held in the lower level of the church.

First Grade thru Eighth Grade -
Meets every Sunday Morning from 8:45 am to 10:15 am.
Classes are held at Msgr. Mc Hugh Elementary School in Cresco.

Children are expected to be in class each and every week, except in cases of illness or emergency. A note from a Parent is required upon a child’s return to class. The Diocese of Scranton has guidelines which must be followed in preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation. The children are required to attend two full years of CCD before receiving any Sacrament, and all classes for Sacramental Preparation.

¨ All families must be registered in St. Mary’s Parish before children can be enrolled in the CCD program. Appointments can be made by calling 839-7138.

¨ Classes start and end on time.

¨ Every child must have a classroom Registration form in addition to the standard registration form on file before the beginning of classes

¨ Children must be picked up from class by either a parent or adult designated on the classroom registration form.

¨ Children in the lower level of the church can be picked-up from their class room. Children at Monsignor McHugh must be picked-up in the lobby at the end of the promenade.
